As florists, we play witness to all kinds of love. Especially during these warmer months, when most of our weddings take place. Garden ceremonies are the most popular, followed by church nuptials, and ceremonies in beautiful private event spaces. The intimate wedding of Tippi and Bart was truly special. Firstly because they are one of the most warm and lovely couples you’ll ever meet, but also because we were invited us to decorate such an important milestone in someone’s life within such an intimate space.
The ceremony took place in the couple’s canalside family home, within one of the narrow townhouses located in the Amsterdam’s 17th century historic centre. These homes are famed nowadays for their instagram-worthy facades, where tourists and locals alike are forever intrigued by the different lives playing out indoors. One would never know of this private theatre being created inside!
The final touches were added with hand-painted leaves, coloured in metallic copper, and matte peach, white and pale greys. And a few of the plants we had grown in our greenhouse were carefully selected and snipped to add visual variety. We simply adore this combination of lemons, whites, pinks, corals and peaches!
Peonies played the star role, and were playfully combined with varieties of roses, orchids and anthuriums. Surprise whimsical elements were bougainvillea, grasses and phaelonopsis orchids, which were infused in pink water.
Arrangements were suspended onto the windows to create a backlit vertical display whilst petite bespoke bouquets in stoneware, adored the dining table. The staircase supported a garland of suspended and trailing foliage. Finally, large arrangements framed the bride and groom, as they perched on their favourite lavender sofa.
